About Helen Fripp
MA Creative Writing Bath Spa University, Member of the Society of Authors, winner of the Bronze Historical Fiction Company Hugo award 2024
I’m a big fan of historical fiction, and I’m fascinated by the women throughout history who have made their mark against all the odds. My female characters rail against the social constraints to which they are subject and often achieve great success, but they are of course flawed and human, like the rest of us. It’s the motivations, flaws, loves and every-day lives of my characters that I love to bring life, against sweeping historical backdrops.
I have worked in Paris, lived in in a fishing village in South West France with my family, and spent many happy summers in France as a child, so that is where my books have ended up being set so far. Next up, though, fifteenth century Venice and Cyprus!
